BUTTERFLIES
Some time ago, while I was jogging on the riverside, I
ran into a typical scenary of the summer fields, that
I have already seen a lot of times and never taken it
into consideration..... Yes, it was a very nice image
but no more than this..!
This time, however, the spirit revealed to me a
special interpretation of what I was seeing. Have you
ever seen the dance of two butterflies in love? Two
little beings very similar, so fragile, almost body
less, impalpable, yet so present with their joyful
and delicate colours, and moving graciously? A
dance that could well allegorically represent a love
relation that our Lord wants to have with His
creature, His similar, the being made in His image,
according to His likeness: MANKIND.
These chasing and following, these twirls of two
beings that together they complete each other, body
less but physically present, so fragile but alive,
these harmonious movements, this looking for each
other and then running away from each other, seem to
be a metaphorical representation of the spiritual
relationship that exists between God and mankind.
God is perpetually seeking
mankind. He chases him in all his ups and downs and
deviations.
Mankind does seek God, sometimes he goes towards God,
other times he goes away from Him.
However, while summer for the butterflies sadly will
come to an end, just like their ephemeral existences
and their poetry,
the long summer of the Lord and mankind will be
gloriously fulfilled in an eternal season in which
they will be reunited to live for ever inseparable in
perfect harmony, enjoying each other with full
satisfaction!
